What part of the process is the most fun to you? Creating ideas & design pieces for my clients is like Christmas morning to me. The colors, the feels, the moods, I take into account the 5 senses and really try to make sure we are capitalizing on each. I also love surprising my clients on their wedding day with a few elements or ideas that I know that they will absolutely love. Most of all I just love being there for them on their wedding day. I am everywhere they need me to be and always have an answer for them.
What is one of your most memorable moments on a wedding day? One of my favorite memories is after the First Look, the groomsmen hopped off of the trolley and spontaneously snapped their fingers and walked over in unison as if they were the Jets from West Side Story, one of my favorite musicals. It made us all laugh so hard, but it was also such a cool visual. I'll never forget it!
What is one of your favorite venues you have worked at? In general, if there is water near the venue I love it. Cranbrook Art Museum was an absolute dream venue for me. To have the bride and her father walk down the grandiose stairs towards the overly abundant floral arch at the Ceremony was such a treasure for me! I also love the Walloon Lake Country Club and The Leelanau Schools.
How would you describe your personal style? Effortlessly Chic. Clean lines, classic and easy...nothing over the top.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get to know the bride and groom? This is one of my favorite parts of the planning process! I ask questions and actually listen to their answers. I love to meet in person or over a video conference so that I can really understand how they work as a couple. Knowing my clients 'favorites' is light-hearted & fun, but also gives me a lot of insight into who they are!
What if the forecast isn't looking good on our wedding day? Long before the big day we have a 'plan b' in our back pockets. On the big day, I chat with both the groom and bride about the forecast and together we make the decision should it be different from 'plan a'!
Where do you live? My husband, son and I recently moved to the Kalamazoo area which is where we both grew up. We wanted to be close to both of our families as our family grows!
Do you only do weddings in Michigan? No way! As pretty much all wedding people will say, 'I'd love to travel'! Bring it on!
Are you the only one on our wedding day working? It all depends on the wedding. Typically I will have at least one assistant with me, and sometimes I have three alongside me on the wedding day!
